History and Philosophy of LDC

> The 1970s

Lawrence Dawson & Company Ltd was established in January 1976 by Geoffrey Dawson, now Chairman of the company. With many years of industry experience and a sound reputation behind him Geoffrey began an insurance, pensions and savings advisory service to private clients and companies, under his own brand. The company was based in modest offices in the heart of the City of London; the steadily expanding client base was drawn from London and the South East. Principles of professional integrity and personal service were laid down as the foundations of the business and, combined with hard work and long hours, remain the bedrock of the company to this day.

> The 1980s

By the 80s the demand for financial products such as mortgages, pensions and savings schemes was growing rapidly as the Thatcherite free-market philosophy began to influence the lives of ordinary people. Simultaneously, the fearsome effects of inflation drove investors to seek sound advice and reliable investment vehicles. These were busy, boom times in ‘The Square Mile’ and Lawrence Dawson & Company Ltd was no exception.

> The 1990s

Geoffrey’s timing had been astute and he had built not only a steady business but a steady team too. After an independent City-based career within financial services, Geoffrey’s son Christopher joined the company in 1997. Working together very effectively - ably supported by a team of professional advisers and support staff - their efforts were rewarded and the company’s client base, turnover and reputation enjoyed exponential growth. Whilst ‘age’ was gradually giving way to ‘youth’ the Dawson philosophy remained steadfast: traditional standards with personal service. Christopher’s hands were increasingly on the tiller with Geoffrey taking the watch, quietly confident that the generation change would benefit the company, its employees and, most importantly, its clients.

> The 2000s

With sound reason and the business in good order, Geoffrey finally handed over full control to Christopher in 2006, though he remains in touch via his role as Chairman. The appointment of another Dawson standing firmly at the helm gave clients of LDC continuity and the best of both worlds: the superior levels of service they had come to expect, combined with a forward looking advisory process incorporating cutting edge techniques and technology.

> The 2010s

After 11 years in their Bishopsgate office, LDC relocated to new, more modern premises in February 2011. Clients will welcome the fact that the new office is easy to find - in that it is located just a few hundred metres from the old one - and it has a lift! New office, new website, new financial products and new technology but the same standard of personal service with professional standards. In 2015 LDC opened a second office, based at the premises of their accountants David Graham Associates in Northwood Hills. The office is located very close to the Metropolitan Line tube station. In 2016 LDC relocated their City office to a more central location, 41 Lothbury, next door to the Bank of England. Building on 40 years of successful business Lawrence Dawson and Company look forward to the future with quiet confidence.
